The BigPond V8 Supercars website was a world-first in 2004. The live stream of the race was synchronised in real-time with race and vehicle telemetry.
Telemetry data included race leaderboard with gap times, and vehicle telemetry including speed, RPM, current gear, brake status, and cabin temperature.
I developed the front-end and integration between the live stream and telemetry. The telemetry data from the provider was aggregated into a series of XML feeds which were time-stamped so that they could be synchronised with the live stream.
As the races were live events, it made development and testing a unique challenge. However, the iterative nature of development, testing, and debugging was very rewarding.
